CASH prizes and special awards are in store in the Best Sinulog Short Story or Best Sinulog Video Documentary, which the Sinulog Foundation, Inc. is again initiating this year.
The grand prize winner will get P30,000 while the second and third placers will pocket P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.
Seven consolation prizes worth P1,000 each will also be given.
Aside from the cash rewards, there will also be special awards to be given like the Best Story, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Engineering and Musical Scoring, and Best Editing.

CEBU CITY, Philippines - People from varied walks of life showed their devotion through song last Monday in a music competition in honor of the Child Jesus, whose feast is celebrated this month. An employee of a telecommunications company came out on top.
Outdoing a policeman, a school teacher, a jail guard, a statistics officer and other men and women from everyday profession, Jafet Vistal of Innove Communications’ electronics department won best composition for his song “Sto. Niño, Kaloy-i Ako” during the 2nd annual Huni Halad Alang Kang Sto. Niño de Cebu songwriting competition, also known as the Huniño competition.
Vistal received a P50,000 check and a trophy for his work, which was performed by Wilson Mendez Jr.

It is not often that a university gets to be visited by a Nobel Prize winner and it is doubly significant when not just one but two are coming. And so the University of San Carlos (USC) is pulling all stops to make sure the visit tomorrow of one of the two will go down as another unforgettable milestone in its 413-year history. At 2 p.m. tomorrow Prof. David Jonathan Gross, the 2004 Nobel laureate for Physics, will talk on “The coming revolutions in fundamental physics” at the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Theater at the Talamban Campus of USC. Dr. Gross comes to Cebu as part of a project called “Bridges – Dialogues towards a Culture of Peace” under the auspices of the International Peace Foundation (IPF).
