FOR THE WIN. Overwhelmed Mabolo elementary kids (top photo) race to the stage after winning the grand prize in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan last Sunday.
The unique Filipiniana wedding performance of Labangon (photo below), incorporating family traditions and Filipino cultural values, garnered them the high school division first prize. They also bagged the Best Costume award.

This person epitomizes the other visual and creative spirit of the festive and famed Cebu City Sinulog Festival, dubbed “the mother of all Philippine festivals.”

Children triumph over the early Sinulog Contests — which heralds the loud exuberance of Sinulog 2008. Alcoy and Carmen towns bested seven others.
1st Prize Winner - Carmen National High School “Pintados.” Secondary school division of the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan (Sinulog Provincial level).
1st Prize Winner - Alcoy town’s Mother Earth environmental theme “Siloy.” Elementary division of the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan (Sinulog Provincial level).

Elementary Level:
2nd place - Pundok Sarokanon of Tugbongan Elementary School representing the town of Consolacion.
3rd place - Apo sa Magbabaol sa mga Talisaynon of Talisay City.

5th place - Pajo Elementary School of Lapu-Lapu City.
Secondary Level:
2nd place - Lumad Mandawehanon of the Mantawi Integrated Dance Co. representing Mandaue City.
3rd place - St. Peter Academy of Alegria Inc. of the municipality of Alegria.
4th place - Silaw Culture and Arts of Carcar Central National High School representing of Carcar City.
5th place - municipality of Oslob.
All contest winners will perform during the Sinulog Grand Parade this January 20, 2008.
