After Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ, I’ve never seen as riveting and gripping as the one presented here in “Buhing Kalbaryo,” (a live re-enactment during the last few hours of Jesus Christ) in Cebu City, Philippines by the acclaimed, international award winning Filipino playwright and director Al Evangelio last March 21, 2008 — a Good Friday.
A real crucifixion took place! (I squirmed when I saw the nails pierced into the hands of the penitent. I had searing goosebumps. I had no choice but to document the whole event.)
Me and four other photo buddies (Sean Sabado, Gio Omega, Mike Ybañez and Reggie Luna) from Cebu Photography Club witnessed the unfolding drama today from 11am to 3pm. (From Cebu City Sports Complex on foot en route to Guadalupe Church.)
