Thanks a lot Clee. The novelty of getting something new to the table (in this case, a fresh new take on a subject) sounds like a very daunting feat. Im imagining years and years of stuff photographers have been thinking and taking photos of and I can barely think of a subject to start with. Nauseating. Its like ive just stepped through a portal into a new world and I cant even decide on what to explore first. Perhaps as I take these baby steps, I'll explore as I go. Im thinking macro photography with great post processing, but I yet have to get a great macro lense. So I'll see how this goes. After this weekend, Im sure ill have more time in my hands, so ill definitely get in touch with you. Time to get my D80 on its first serious photo stint. Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement and the inspiration. Looking at the great photos youve taken, its definitely making me want to explore photography some more. Thanks Clee. Btw, whens that coffee thing you photo guys are having? Let me know, perhaps I can make it. If you dont already have my number, ill YM it to you. Cheers!

I think they did a flawless job singing our Pandan Rosas. And looked -- how they managed to do it without a sweat. Haha! That should make us all the more proud. They are singing our folk songs! And it's a shame if some of us wouldn't even bother to continue listening to it, the moment it's aired.

As for your photography in the city, I am reminded of how I started with a Mr. Clean-sized Kodak instamatic camera (circa 1980's, stuffs you call vintage now); a baffling film roll, that looked like mini-binoculars -- that I can barely buy even; and things were simple then. My then pastor father gave it to me and we equally shared it in the family like a sacred heirloom. I was 5 years old when I first released the shutters. (Time flies so dizzying fast!) That moment opened to me a whole new world of themes and memorabilias. I was the excited, new kid who slept all the way into the now of things. There were no CebuAsia's back then.

I went off from that day shooting just about any sundry objects. But the Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete City was a sight to behold everyday. I think, that was one disquieting reason why I should pursue this fine art.

I am bidding time with all these crazy hobbies. Sky's the limit, they say, but I am still in Cebu. Who knows where I'd reach shooting my subjects next.

Here's a handy tip: Always incline to shoot something which nobody even dared to try with an angle or settings and they, too, would exclaim, "I could have taken this myself!"

From photos to websites to shirts, there is no stopping now. :)

People are eyeing back at our bright-lit Cebu these days, always coming back to this website for more; and this is just my little contribution for them to admire this wee photography-friendly spot in their hearts.

My $0.02 worth, too. Good luck with your take offs, Mike!

With the Rosas Pandan article, once again I have been reminded how proud I should be for being a Cebuano. Who would have thought them Americans would give themselves the time of day to learn a Cebuano song? Even the Koreans did a good job doing the Rosas Pandan. An evident twang to their pronunciation and intonation, but I could very well get what they were singing. You were right Clee when you said the article was going to be a show stopper. It sure made me stop and think. Perhaps I can find a way to get our little city noticed? If you figured CebuAsia, perhaps I can do more photos for and of Cebu? What better way to start photography than to take something (in this case a place - Cebu) you really love for a subject? Let me know what you think. Thanks for the Rosas Pandan article, that sure brightened up my day. Now I'm off to share this article to friends and colleagues. You should start thinking about a souvenir shirt for CebuAsia. You were wearing one during Sinulog, right? Perhaps a design contest be in order? Just imagine people walking the city and the world, wearing your shirt. Telling everyone of Cebu and the pride we have for our little city. Just a thought.

Goodluck, Alds! Hope you'll get this. Hehehe. My cat will do the choosing for you. *joke* (of course, with my comments here, I exclude myself in this mini-contest)
