What do you get when elegant and extravagant costumes, fireworks and fountains, vivid and captivating dance numbers burst in the grandest finale Sinulog Foundation has pulled off to date?

A real and theatrical, non-inhibited, and fetching bohemian night of remembrance combined.

Organizers, contingents, performers, judges, photographers, and people from all walks of life braved the rains as Sinulog 2008 ended with a stylized bang last night — as the all, too-familiar 25-seconder 20th Century Fox fanfare theme intercuts into a dizzying array of music and dance extraordinaire numbers.

CebuAsia looks back. The impresario did one fine job for that spectacular last hurrah for Sinulog 2008. In the end, they have succeeded magnificently with a robust, crosscutting production — with nary a hitch and dead air.

The different performances — both local and out-of-towner contingents (Luzon’s Camarines Sur, a first timer, wowed the crowd in their fiery red suite) — were nothing short, but a heart-stopping show; building to a never-seen grand finale: an eccentric fusion of “Viva! Las Vegas!” and “Viva! Pit Senyor!”

Two formidable ladies, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and First Lady Margot Osmeña, ended the relentless showdown in their separate, “full of delights” presentations, respectively. (Click photos to see larger pop-in versions).

CebuAsia had been searching for HD copies of last night’s showdown, but these two are the only ones found, so far, in the Internet as of blog time.
